Same issue,tried everything,can't finx it though!!any suggestions?I know that this won't fix your problem but you should complain to HP! The drivers for many of their printers are included in Windows 7 but when the printer fails to install correctly users just get nothing but aggravation, most of this aggravation beingcaused by HP's brainless decision to no longer provide the drivers on their support site! You can get the drivers manually on the Windows update site but this runaround is completely unacceptable and if consumers don't voice their frustration and complainto HP, or until consumers finally decide to vote with their pocketbooks, then servicing HP printers will only become more aggravating!

This new policy of no longer providing drivers on their site is causing some very negative reactions and opinions from longtime HP customers, especially those in business and enterprise environments!JohnProgrammers are either not taught about Occam's razor or they forgot about it the following day. When the HP support web site says 'Install the Driver Using Windows Update with a USB Connection (Downloadable Driver Not Available)' it means that you should connect the printer to your computer and turn on the printer. The 'Found New Hardware' wizardshould open and you should get a screen that looks like this:Select the radio button to permit Windows to connect to Windows Update (I suggest 'this time only') and click Next to complete the wizard. After some period of time, which may be rather long, Windows should find and download the driver and the installationshould proceed.If the above doesn't work (for example, you don't get that screen), you can also install the printer as follows.

Do not connect the printer to the computer. Click Start and then Devices and Printers. Click 'Add a printer'. Select 'Add a local printer'.

On the 'Choose a printer port' screen, select the radio button for 'Use an existing port.' You can leave the default in the drop-down list at LPT1: (Printer Port). Click 'Next.' . On the 'Install printer driver' screen, select HP in the left pane. You can scroll through the list of printers on the right side, but you should not find the Deskjet 3745 (or Deskjet 3740 series) listed.
